Happy Volunteers’ Week 2026!
Volunteers are at the centre of everything we do at Ministry of Stories. They mentor on our community writing labs, venture out to our exciting school projects, remotely transcribe our young writers’ work, and some even brave coming face to face with monsters in Hoxton Street Monster Supplies!
Our volunteers come from all over London and beyond, but all share the common goal of creating a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space for our young writers to explore their creativity and self expression.
It has been a fantastic year for Ministry of Stories’ volunteers. We’re spending this week celebrating all the brilliant ways they’ve supported us this year. Here’s what it looks like in numbers…
-
3,500 hours of time given by our amazing volunteers
-
230 volunteers stepped through our secret door
-
8 published school anthologies transcribed by volunteers
-
450 boxes of breadsticks devoured by young writers
-
6 days of Dreamstate
-
1,848 young people supported to bring their stories to life

“The mentors are so nice, never strict and always helpful.” – Hope, 10 .
“Volunteering at Ministry of Stories has been one of the most rewarding experiences. I have seen how writing can unlock imagination, confidence and joy – and the opportunity to be present and be a part of their creative journey feels invaluable” – Riya
To everyone who has volunteered with us this year, thank you. You make Ministry of Stories a space where our young writers’ creativity and imaginations flourish.
